this scholarship was established to encourage students who have demonstrated
outstanding scholarship and leadership qualities to pursue a career in the field
of school psychology.
Eligibility:
• Applicant must be enrolled in a graduate program leading to a degree in
school psychology or certification as a school psychologist.
• Applicant must be a resident of New Hampshire.
• Applicant must have attained a 3.0 GPA or greater for the most recently
attended graduate year.
• Applicant must have actively participated in school activities and
demonstrated leadership qualities.
Priority will be extended to:
• Applicants who are the child of a parent, grandparent, or guardian who is
a member of NHASP
• Applicants whose sponsoring NHASP member has taken a leadership role
• Applicants whose sponsoring NHASP member has actively participated in the
functions and activities of NHASP
Application/Selection Process:
• Applicant must submit an essay to the NHASP Executive Board indicating
his/her intention of pursuing a career in school psychology and a description of
his/her college activities and leadership roles. Applicant may include other
activities, awards or supportive information that he/she feels would be helpful
to the NHASP selection committee.
• Applicant must submit a valid college transcript and proof of currently being
a matriculating student in a graduate program leading to certification as a
school psychologist.
• Applications will be reviewed and selection made by three (3) active members
of NHASP, appointed by the NHASP President.
Procedure:
• The Scholarship Committee will consist of an odd number of NHASP members
who shall be appointed by the President.
• The scholarship will be awarded based on a majority vote of the Scholarship
Committee.
Award:
One (1) $1,000 award for a graduate year payable in two, one semester
installments of $500 each, based on the applicant maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or
better. After the first semester, an award will be payable upon receipt of a
transcript confirming a GPA of 3.0 or better, a copy of a paid tuition bill, and
proof that the recipient is continuing in the course of study for which the
scholarship was awarded. Awards will be paid directly to the recipient, not the
educational institution.
