NHASP 2009-2010 STRATEGIC PLANNING

General Information

When:              January 9, 2010 (Snow date: February 13)

Where:            Grappone Center, Concord (Courtyard Marriott, 70 Constitution Ave.)

Time:               9:00 – 3:00 (Lunch will be provided)

Thanks so much for your interest in NHASP’s efforts to develop a Strategic Plan for the future of our Association. All school psychologists in NH are invited.  Additionally, we have invited select members of the community.  If you are interested in attending or have questions, please contact Peg Dawson at pegdawson@comcast.net for further information and confirmation of your attendance.  Attendance at the meeting is free and lunch will be included.

We have conducted this process several times over the past 20 years and have found that the participation of influential and creative members of key constituent groups is a vital part of our planning process.

Although this is a process that will take several months for NHASP to complete, we have an ambitious agenda for our first meeting. The outline of the day includes:

  •  A review of data compiled through a membership survey that asked NHASP members to identify strengths and weaknesses of the association and critical issues facing our profession.

  • An external scan in which we ask participants to brainstorm external threats and opportunities impacting NHASP (and education in New Hampshire in general), such as political, demographic, economic, technological and social trends and issues.

  • Development of “Problem Statements” in which participants are asked to identify key issues confronting our members and the schools, children, and families we serve.

  • Translating the Problem Statements into Strategic Goals.

We will come away from this meeting with meaningful and well-articulated goals from which the Board and membership can then develop objectives and action plans. Those who’ve participated in this process in the past have found it a worthwhile and stimulating endeavor—in addition to being an opportunity to network with colleagues and friends.

Thanks again for your interest,
