Workshop Description
This updated workshop continues the collaboration between NHASP and Dr. Donnelly from DHMC. The first year of this workshop in 2022 proved the success of the format and provided powerful information on a range of diagnostic conditions. This updated event will continue to conversation!
This event will provide school based practitioners with practical guidance and best-practice recommendations regarding the assessment and treatment of common psychiatric disorders of childhood and adolescence. Dr. Donnelly, together with the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellows from Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, will present 5 primary topical areas.
The instructional sessions will focus on topics such as ADHD, ODD/DMDD, Anxiety Disorders, Mood Disorders and Bipolar Disorder. Each session will include an overview of the disorder, diagnostic guidance such as free assessment tools, typical presentations, and comorbidities; then review evidence based treatments, and finally provide specific resources both within NH and on the internet. Question and answers will be part of each individual session.

Target Audience
This workshop is appropriate for School Psychologists, Psychologists, School Counselors, School-Based Mental Health and Social Workers. The workshop is available to current NHASP members at a special reduced rate as a membership benefit. Additionally, members of other North East Regional state associations can attend at the NH member rate as part of our regional collaboration.

- Recognize the common comorbidities of primary psychiatric presentations in youth in school settings
- Explain with the range of biological and non-biological treatments for common psychiatric disorders in youth and which treatments have an evidence base
About The Presenter
Craig L. Donnelly, MD, is the Program Director for Fellowship Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth in Hanover, New Hampshire.
Dr. Donnelly earned his medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine in 1989. His postgraduate education at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, included an internship in Adult and Pediatric Medicine, a residency in General Adult Psychiatry, and a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He has over 30 years of experience in public sector, community mental health work and has been on the faculty at Dartmouth for more than 26 years.
Dr. Donnelly has written extensively on topics in pediatric psychopharmacology and conducted treatment research across the spectrum of child and adolescent psychiatric disorders, including ADHD, obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, Autism Spectrum Disorders and pediatric posttraumatic stress disorder. He has lectured both nationally and internationally on a wide range of topics related to Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, the psychopharmacology of stress and trauma treatment, and development of novel systems of care delivery for psychiatric services in youth. Dr. Donnelly is involved in projects utilizing Tele-psychiatry applications to disseminate evidence based treatments, training and patient care to clinicians and underserved populations of children, adolescents and families.
Dr. Donnelly will be joined by several Fellows in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at DHMC for this presentation.
